Drug testing built for PEOs, broader panels, zero administrative lift, and zero testing liability.
Substance-use liability is one of the most undermanaged risks for businesses in most industries. A single positive test that is mishandled, or a prescription interaction that is missed, can expose the worksite employer, and by extension the PEO, to workers’ compensation claims, wrongful-termination suits, third-party liability suits, and OSHA scrutiny.
Most drug testing programs were not built to address this. They screen for a narrow panel of abused and illegal drugs, ignore prescribed medications that can affect performance on their own or in combination with legal and illegal drugs, and place the administrative burden squarely on the employer.
The Family Wellness Box – Business Services was built specifically to close those gaps for PEOs and the employers they serve. We deliver more comprehensive, affordable, confidential, and convenient PEO drug testing solutions than any service we have been able to identify, and we administer the entire program so the PEO carries no operational lift and no testing liability.
The Family Wellness Box conducts and administers every component of testing, including collection with or without observed urine samples, chain of custody, lab analysis, PhD-reviewed results, and reporting. All tests are conducted in a CLIA-certified lab.
The PEO initiates the order. The Family Wellness Box handles the rest.
In the event of a disputed result, Family Wellness Box has an end-to-end process for addressing the dispute and further confirming outcomes. Your testing-related liability is effectively zero.
A 74-substance panel is tested from a sample drawn from a 12-drug cup. Standard cup tests catch some commonly abused drugs, but they do not go further.
Our LC/MS, or Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometer, lab tests for 74 substances listed on the “What We Test For” tab. This includes many substances both illegal and prescribed medications such as antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and other commonly prescribed drugs that can interact with legal and illegal substances that can affect performance and safety.
Every result is reviewed by a PhD with decades of experience on the instrument.
The significantly enhanced knowledge that this service leads to helps prevent incidents before they happen. Identifying a drug-related contraindication or interaction before an employee is placed on a forklift, behind the wheel, on a job site, or in an executive office provides information that is otherwise difficult to source.
This is exactly the kind of insight that turns compliant workplace drug testing from a compliance checkbox into a real risk-management tool. This also may lead to your clients' enjoying savings on Workman's comp and Liability insurance premiums
The Family Wellness Box offers revenue-sharing opportunities for PEOs that elect to participate in our branding program. This provides a 10% rebate on all tests ordered through the PEO, turning a member-services offering into a revenue line.
The Family Wellness Box helps PEOs support clients with more complete testing, stronger risk management, and less administrative burden.
The box arrives with securely packaged cups or cups, all collection materials, and prepaid return shipping. Standard delivery is typically within 24 hours at no charge, and guaranteed overnight delivery is available for a fee.
Samples ship back via UPS at no charge. The sample envelope can be dropped at any UPS location, which is searchable from our site.
If an observed collection is needed, it can be added at the time of order. The 74-substance lab results return in 24–36 hours via encrypted email.
Cost and convenience are unmatched.
Samples, including observed samples, are collected at the worksite. The employer saves the travel time and lost productivity that come with sending an employee to a collection site, and the employee receives a more confidential experience.
This worksite-based approach makes The Family Wellness Box a practical option for PEOs looking for compliant workplace drug testing that is easier for employers and employees to complete.
For non-observed urine samples, the person being tested provides the sample, and immediate results are visible on the cup for 12 commonly abused drugs.
A small portion of the sample is transferred to a vacutainer, sealed in a zip-lock bag, placed in a waterproof envelope with the return shipping label affixed, and dropped off at UPS.
Lab results are provided by encrypted email, usually within 24–48 hours.
For observed urine samples, The Family Wellness Box sends an observer, typically a licensed Paramedic or Nurse, to the location of the person being tested for an additional fee.
All observed collections follow strict chain-of-custody protocols and DOT standards.
The sample provider is instructed not to open the cup before providing the sample. After overseeing the sample collection, the observer takes custody immediately and delivers the sample to UPS.
If the person tested claims a discrepancy, a re-test is conducted within 24 hours and must include an observer, regardless of how the original sample was collected.
If the discrepancy is confirmed, and the original test costs are refunded.
This process helps PEOs and employers manage disputed results with consistency, documentation, and confidence.
All boxes include collection materials and shipping.
